Manifestation

Manifestation

There are people who will try a methodology you are suggesting only if you can prove to them that it is in the Scriptures—whether it is the Bible, the Torah, the Koran or the Vedas.

For instance, when you tell them that there is a tremendous power locked up in the depths of their subconscious mind which they can tap to attract into their lives the things they have been dreaming of, they will look at you as if you’ve just told them to get in touch with the devil or some dark force.

But to the surprise of many, the Bible recognizes the existence of the subconscious mind and its power in bringing to us the desires of our hearts. Here’s one passage that proves it:

“Cast your bread upon the waters for you will find it after many days.”

(Ecclesiastes 11:1)

Scholars acknowledge the Bible as a book of wisdom, so you may wonder why it suggests a crazy idea like throwing your bread into the water and even assure you that you’ll find it still there after a few days. Everyone knows that if you put bread into a bowl of water, it will surely disintegrate into a soggy mess within the day. You might be tempted to say: “This line from Ecclesiastes is such a strange prescription.

If you take the Bible literally, as many people do, you will really get confused. That passage from Ecclesiastes is not really talking about bread and water; neither is it commanding you to eat water-soaked bread that is fed to swine. Like any literary work, the Bible goes beyond its literal statements. It provides enlightenment to its readers through metaphors, analogies and symbolisms.

On the one hand, the word “bread” in the Bible means an idea of something that you desire to have. The word “desire” means “to sire” or “ to father,” as in “sire” or “father” a movement or cause.

Water, on the other hand, has always been the symbol of the mind in ancient writings. This is actually the subconscious mind, where the word may not have existed at the time. “Cast your bread upon the waters” is therefore the Bible’s way of saying, “Feed your desire into your subconscious mind so that the latter can work on it.” It is very much like the way the soil works on a seed planted in it.

What about the phrase “for you will find it after many days?” It clearly means your desires will come forth after some time
