Looking Inwards

Every book on meditation teaches you the significance of looking inwards. Most of you are focussed on the action that takes place in the external world and seldom to the inside world .Actually it is your inside world that creates your outside world. Unless you focus on the inside and visualize your desires on the inside or mental world great achievements are not possible. Then how will you focus on the inside?

Here I will be explaining two simple methods on how to look or focus on your inside world

1.Breathing.-On thing that frequently goes to your inside is your breath. It is the connecting vehicle between your inside and outside. So to go inside you simply focus or ride your breath. There are various methods to do it

a. The most simple method  is to watch your breath come and go. Do it naturally. Do not regulate your breath. The exercise is so simple but the problem is you either sleeps off or the mind will start to wander soon. Bring it back when you become aware that mind has shifted.

b. This method is little more difficult than the previous one but brings more focus. With each inhale and exhale you make mental affirmations of your choice. For example when you are inhaling you mentally affirm Love and make the same or a different affirmation during exhale. When you affirm Love during inhale you are drawing the loving energy from the Universe and giving out what you affirm during exhale to the universe

c. There is a gap between the end of every inhale and the beginning of the next exhale and vice versa. Focus on this gap

d. Making affirmation mentally at the gap between the end of every inhale and the beginning of the next exhale and vice versa

You can choose any one of the above methods

2. Breaking thoughts.

When you suddenly ask yourself what you were thinking and try to list out your predominant thought you break your ongoing thought patterns. Once you have identified predominant thought pattern you let go of it. Sticking on to that thought will start a new train of thought. Every hour you ask this questions and list out the predominant thought and this will break your thought process. Practising this everyday will make you aware about what is going on inside of you.
