“Give thanks in all circumstances”
-(Thessalonians 5:18).
It is a challenging advice because of the word “all.”
We grew up with the idea and practice of saying “thank you” to people whenever they do us something good. We are not used to saying thank you for nothing. We are also not used to say thank you to the universe. In this circumstance, how is it possible to say thank you when the going is tough including those that we perceive as the negative events in all our lives? How does one begin to accept thanking God in the midst of challenges? In the midst of pain? During moments of anger?
Keep in mind one idea: that God is working for your good behind the suffering and pain you are experiencing. As you develop the attitude of gratitude, you will see the difference in the quality of your life. Think about your past experiences and all the troubles that had previously occurred in your life. The negative aspects as well as the positive ones brought you here. These were all learning lessons. As you learn to thank God in the midst of your challenges, you will begin to realize that you are also thanking God for all the blessings awaiting your recognition. All your so called tragedies, emergencies, crises and challenges are opportunities for greater blessings.
