Every time one starts making conscious affirmations the first thing it brings is stress .Usually you make affirmations to achieve something you don’t have. The conscious mind is aware of your state. During the beginning of the affirmations the conscious mind will start making objections to it, stating that what you affirm is wrong. It point out life situations contrary to what you say.
Suppose if you are making affirmations about prosperity, then the conscious mind will point out the lack of prosperity around. This will come as a train of thoughts. So any affirmations on prosperity will initially generate train of thoughts on scarcity. Usually people will get dispirited at these scarcity thoughts and will stop making affirmations. This is a stage of stress.
The best way to overcome this is to persist with the affirmations. The conscious mind will go on raising objections. But the conscious mind lacks stamina and sooner or later will stop raising objections. It is at this stage affirmations go directly in to the subconscious mind, and new beliefs are formed. This result in its manifestation
